Waycross Service League
Our Objective
The object of this League shall be to foster interest among its members in the social, economic, educational, cultural, and civic conditions of their community and to make efficient their volunteer service.
Annual Events
Waycross Service League has three annual events each league year. These events are fundraisers to help League maintain our charity commitment to the community. Since these events are a big part of funding service, active members are required to attend all annual events.
Racing for Pinks
November 1, 2024
This event is a 3k, one-mile fun run, and toddler trot that benefits local breast cancer patients. In the past, proceeds have gone to Hospice Satilla and Care Pax. In partnership with First Friday in Historic Downtown Waycross, this year’s event will be an afternoon run through Waycross’ beautiful historic district.
April Fool’s Rod Run
March 29, 2025
This event is a classic car show in a festival feel. We have Kid’s Corner, food vendors, merch vendors, and live entertainment.
Service Projects
These are any projects that Waycross Service League does to benefit the community. Service Projects give back to the community directly or help another organization with their mission in giving back. The following are some examples of Service Projects we do: Camp Reveille, Pumpkin Fest, Salvation Army Angel Tree Shopping Project, Senior Center Baskets, Miracle League, selling gold bows for childhood cancer awareness, The Hanger Fashion Show, and so many more! There is a service project for every giving heart! We encourage you to attend as many service projects as possible each year.
Commitment
Many League members are career women and mothers along with many other life events going on. Don’t let the required hours scare you, we promise it does not take long at all to achieve 65 hours spread over 10 months with so many fun opportunities in between. Also, we know life happens and things come up that we do not plan.
Time
Each member, no matter their membership status, is required to pay annual dues. All dues must be paid in full by February. Member Annual Dues are as follows: Active: $100, Provisional: $40, Inactive: $30, Non-Resident $30, Sustaining $20.

FAQs
Do I have to be a teacher to be a member of Waycross Service League?
Absolutely not! While many of our members are school teachers, there is no job-related requirement to join.
Are there social events outside of Annual Events and Service Projects?
Yes! WSL is not all work and no play! We have several fun league gatherings throughout the year. We have a Provisional Tea to meet and greet all of our new provisionals, a Christmas Party, May Banquet at the Okefenokee Country Club, and other little gatherings that may come up throughout the year.
Will Waycross Service League take up all of my free time?
Absolutely not! Many League members are career women and mothers along with many other life events going on. Don’t let the required hours scare you, we promise it does not take long at all to achieve 65 hours spread over 10 months with so many fun opportunities in between. Also, we know life happens and things come up that we do not plan.
Where does the money that is paid in dues and raised at events go?
WSL benefits many organizations in Waycross and surrounding areas. Some of these include: Satilla Advocacy Services, The Magnolia House, The Hanger, Salvation Army, Nelson Greene Senior Center, Campground Ministries, Unison Behavioral Health, unpaid medical bills at local pediatric/medical offices, Megan’s House, Care Paks, Called to Care, and many, many more!
Is there an age limit to join?
Nope! Members must be 21 years of age to join, but there is no age maximum!
Will I have help if I choose to join?
Absolutely! We know how overwhelming it all may seem in the beginning. Provisionals are helped along the way during their first year. There are two assigned mentors over your committee to help answer questions, keep you on track with time, and make sure you have all the information you need regarding all things WSL.
